The Truth Is...
Oh my freaking gosh. You guys... I JUST GOT MY FIRST BOOK PUBLISHED!!! Phew. Nope, not me freaking out a whole heck of a lot. I know most of my content that you've ever been exposed to has been Christian based, and based off of truth at that, but the book I have now published is a poetry book. And I cannot express to you all how exciting this journey has been. Nerve-wracking too, by the way. It takes a lot of persistence and perseverance to get here. Oh, and a ton of late nights, coffee, and hair pulling moments. It's only an eBook as of current, but it will, in fact, be coming to paperback as well. EEK.
The support that I have received along the way has been phenomenal too. I kind of kept it a secret until this last month, but I think that was so that I wouldn't let the negative voices and opinions affect my progress. I tend to let the lies speak louder than the truth. I don't think that I'm alone on that one either. How many of you let the lies of the enemy affect you in your day to day life? That's something that we've just accepted as normal, when it shouldn't be. God has given us the authority to stand above that. Jesus, with the cross, crushed/ bruised the devil's head, defeating the power of death and winning the ultimate victory. Instead of walking in that truth though, we allow fear to control us. Letting fear control you is like being held captive in a cage that was never locked to begin with. Don't let an unlocked door hold you captive.
Here's the thing: the enemy knows his purpose is to kill, steal, and destroy you, your purpose, and your spirit. In order to combat the enemy, we, as Christians, have THE LIVING GOD inside of us. HOW FREAKING AWESOME IS THAT?!?! But, what good is that if we don't turn to God when things in our life go awry? Take a house, for example. What good is having electricity when you never turn it on? Then, you're left sitting there scared, and in the dark. To me, that sounds kinda silly, knowing that the electricity is at our hands. One day, we will see satan for who he truly is. The Bible actually says, :
Those who see you will stare at you
and ponder over you:
'Is this the man who made the earth tremble,
who shook kingdoms,
who made the world like a desert
and overthrew its cities,
who did not let his prisoners go home?'
Isaiah 14:16-17
Like yo, is this REALLY the dude I let have control over me my whole life? Wow. What an absolute waste of time. He was nothing to fear to begin with. Even those who chose to follow satan will be in laughter, mocking him for his weakness when he gets sent to Sheol, the abode of the wicked dead until the Last Judgment (v. 9-10).
In John 8:32, Jesus says, "and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." So, what is truth?
Truth is that which is consistent with the mind, will, character, glory, and being of God. Simply put, truth is the self-expression of God. God is truth. His word is truth. If you don't know His word, then you really don't know truth. I don't know what lies the enemy is filling your head with today. And I don't want to keep you too long, but I do want to leave you with a list of truths that God reassures us of in the Bible. I just want to encourage you to spend some time in His presence today.
